My Daughter Didn't Invite Me To Her Wedding

Calgary, Head-Smashed-Buffalo & Glacier National Park

Today is a day behind us andstrengender. We started it with a breakfast in our hotel. You never stop learning, including on the North American breakfast. On entering the breakfast room we had already noticed the smell of waffle, but sitting around just to see the waffle iron. We assumed that the wafers are prepared by an employee. Only after a few minutes later a boy fills the dough from a vending machine and this poured into the waffle iron, we realized that the machine included the dough.

Today's Calgary tour, we started on the Scotsman Hill Park as the morning dew still glistened on the grass, we were already on the small terrace with views overlooking the skyline. We went to Fort Calgary. The museum stands on the site where once the troops of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police built their fort. The museum tells the history of Calgary, came from the life time
basis of selected families of different origin, the development since the first settlers here after the railway line also led to Calgary. Especially nice, we found the opportunity to attract even a real uniform of that time with jacket, hat and gloves.

In the inner city, we continued our round. The Devonian Gardens, a botanical garden on the top floor of a mall, are unfortunately closed until next fall due to renovations. So ran the Stephen Avenue Walk wr further along, a pedestrian zone right in the center. Passing through the Chinatown of Calgary, which is in fact the third oldest in the country we came to Eau Claire Market, a well known Einkaufmall. Immediately behind the Prince Iceland is in the middle of the Bow River. This well-maintained park offer views of the skyline once again, but from the north side. It should be noted at the skyline, that many find Kira in this picture. Calgary is a thriving town whose boom depends largely on the oil price.
On the way back to the car we passed yet on Olympic Plaza. This took place during the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, the Medailllenübergabe. Next door is the Sicha City Hall. The C-Train (Tram), we drove back into town a bit. The railway is in the downtown area soga free. Otherwise the city for pedestrians is designed very well. First, there are increased (about 50cm) paths to the trams and the so-called Walkways. It is in a building 1 floor high and at this level, this building is connected to the next. So one can move through almost the whole inner city without getting wet. At this level are usually businesses, so that has really made a city on the city. Drawback to the whole thing is of course the guide because you have to know firstly the progress of the building and then still choose the right Walkway.

to 13 clock we left Calgary and made our way to the border in the U.S..
Southern Alberta was again marked by vast landscapes, shimmering yellow prairie in the west were distinguished weak from the Rocky Mountains and the long road ahead of us. We passed through small villages which had been almost deserted. Before the border crossing, we made a stop at the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Hill. On this mountain the Indians of the Plains, the buffalo have driven down and sent to their deaths. Below you needed the buffalo then only "cook".

the border with the United States, specifically in the state of Montana, was straightforward and after we had left all our fingerprints and U.S. $ 6 per person there, we could continue our journey. Just after the border is the Glacier National Park

This is the Going-to-the-Sun Road, her character best scenic road in North America. Unfortunately, this was only passable no0ch to Logan Pass, then take place in the Off-Peak Season works. We still went as far as possible to see in the hope next to the beautiful landscape with snow-capped mountains, lakes and easy bezuckerten white fir and a bear. Despite a short hikes we have found none.

We continued our journey for, as to Butte it was still a whole piece. Also in Montana, we only came for miles through town and not as if there was a time, so one could certainly 19th in the Century back feel. In some places, time seems almost be stopped. Tonight we will stay at the Best Western Plaza Inn Butte.
